Hello Friends,
I want to share with you the wonderful message that Jim Bell shared with us on Thursday at Senior Saints. What a blessing and inspiration.
The Call of God – A message from Jim Bell
He shared a little bit of his background and that he has been a pastor for 40 years. I like the way he put it, that we are called to be a “stone”, we are all stones in the walls that build the Church. We are each important and necessary to make the building strong, we all serve a purpose.
Like Paul on the road to Damascus, God called Jim to service. God gave him an overwhelming desire to spread the gospel. When he was about 17 years old, God started moving and events took place that would support and make possible a 1-year scholarship to SWS college. With new clothes that God had provided, and 1 year scholarship the young man was on his way.
Jim would meet his bride, be married to the young woman who shares that she wanted to be the wife of a preacher. God had a plan for them and the countless lives they would touch along the journey.
He also told us that there had been an earlier encounter with his Savior. It was at revival where a minister, Hallelujah Hopkins, was preaching. At that revival, 2 of the most important influences in his life would be revealed. A young girl with hair long enough to sit on, who would one day become his wife and, the Lord Jesus Christ who converted his life and it would never be the same. Jim was 10 years old when he gave his heart to Jesus as his Lord and Savior and met the girl who would steal his heart one day.
Jim challenged us: He said God has a plan for each of us. That if we have had the call to Christ and we are his, we are all like stones in a wall and have work to do.
That we:
1. Have been converted
2. We all have a ministry (whether it’s praying for others, witnessing or just being in church to say “hi” to someone) We all have a job to do.
3. To come hither. To go up to be with Christ. We can go with either the upper taker or the undertaker depending on when He returns.
